  • NNP Chingaza provides drinking water for about 80% of the 10 million inhabitants of the Bogota region, as well as 11 nearby towns. It also helps maintain the hydric dynamic of the Orinoco basin. Culturally, it helps maintain important ancestral sites, such as Chingaza lagoon.

Thanks to its scenic beauty and historic memory, NNP Chingaza provides ecotourism for over 15000 visitors a year, serving also as a scientific research location. The great biodiversity represented in species such as the spectacled bear is also a benefit for humanity in terms of its aesthetic value, its research importance, and the support it can provide for future generations.
