To preserve the ecosystem mosaic, made up of coastal lagoons, beaches, mangrove forests, dry and very dry forests as well as migratory and resident species for the benefit of communities and of the Colombian Caribbean environment.
To contribute with the protection and maintenance of the environmental goods and services of the Sanctuary.
To protect natural and landscape features of cultural value for the Wayuu, Afro descendant and indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and its surroundings, in order to contribute with the preservation of the multiethnic and multicultural heritage of the nation.
