To preserve samples of estuary and marine ecosystem mosaics from the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta such as mangrove swamps, coastal lagoons, dry forest, sub-xerophyte forest and sedimentary floors, as specialized habitats of hydrobiology resources, migratory, resident, endemic and threatened fauna.

To contribute to the generation, protection and maintenance of environmental goods and services such as fishing, recreation, collection and filtering of deposits and nutrient cycles, to help support sustainable human development in the zone of influence.
