Hiking

Los Cocos interpretive trail and the lagoon complex on the northeast are special attractions. Some aquatic circuits through channels, swamps and mangrove forests can be enjoyed. You can travel through the coasts of the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta; and to beaches like Cangarú and Onaca, and also observe unique sights such as the estuary delta of the Magdalena River.

Bird Watching

This protected area is known as an international bird airport. Birds make up the best-known group of invertebrates in the area and the reason it was declared Important Bird and Biodiversity Area – IBA. There are currently 199 registered species for the area.

Fauna and Flora Observation

It is the perfect place to observe fauna and flora. The great diversity of mammals is represented by 14 families and 33 species. Among these there are foxes, otters and ocelots. There is also great biodiversity in marine organisms, reptiles, amphibians, birds and insects.

Research and Environmental Education

The exuberant nature of the protected area and its state of conservation make it an ideal place for scientific research. Additionally, as in all the parks with ecotourism, education institutions carry out environmental education activities in the park, as do the park rangers who speak to the visitors about the Park, its conservation objectives and ecotourism services and activities.

Photography and Video

The scenic beauty of Isla de Salamanca PW make it an ideal place for this activity, although, if the photos or video are intended for commercial use or publication, a permit must be obtained from Parques Nacionales Naturales.
