Ecotourism Activities
X

The Sanctuary has infrastructure to support many activities including environmental education and research in partnership with local educational activities. Nevertheless, the main activities are the two hiking trails where you can also observe wild flora and fauna.

Research and Environmental Education

The exuberant nature of the protected area and its state of conservation make it an ideal place for scientific research. Additionally, as in all the parks with ecotourism, education institutions carry out environmental education activities in the park, as do the park rangers who speak to the visitors about the Park, its conservation objectives and ecotourism services and activities.

Hiking

You must receive the introductory talk from Park officers before doing the Sanctuary’s two trails. El Quiche Trail (550 m, medium difficulty): Traversing the island from north to south, the trial follows the dense forest among trees whose treetops form a puzzle in the canopy overhead. La Totora Trail (200 m, low difficulty): you can observe an aquatic ecosystem, which is habitat of resident and migratory birds.

Photography and Video

The scenic beauty of Isla de la Corota FFS make it an ideal place for this activity, although, if the photos or video are intended for commercial use or publication, a permit must be obtained from Parques Nacionales Naturales.
