Conservation Objectives:

  1. To preserve the Park’s snow peaks, páramo, Andean and sub-Andean forests that are strategic for the regulation of water since it contains an important hydrographic basin and because the latter two are areas with the most endemism in the sierra.
  2. To conserve and contribute with the natural recovery of the area represented in the Park by the Equatorial rainforest and sub-Andean forest since it contains the greatest number of endangered species in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
  3. To preserve the Park’s Ezwamas and other sacred sites of the four indigenous groups who live there, as the cultural and natural heritage of these communities.
