The Laguna de La Cocha contains an estimated volume of 1,700 million cubic meters of water fed by 26 streams that make up the great hydrographic reserve of the region. This reserve also feeds a water basin of 22,590 hectares, which corresponds to the high part of the Guamués River watershed, a tributary of the Putumayo River, which, in turn, empties into the Amazon River.
