  • This beautiful park features some of the endemic species of Colombian flora, amongst which is the frailejon known as Espeletia uribei, whose specimens grow in the vegetation found between the moorland and the Andean wetland. The Park frailejon population is estimated at over 1000 species. It is frequent to find wetland moss species, which can absorb up to 40 times their weight in water. In the Andean wetlands, the encenillo Weinmannia sp. is predominant, as well as the gaque Clusia multiflora and the tibar Escallonia myrtilloides. The frailejones Espeletia grandiflora are common in the wetland areas, along with the scrublands Calamagrostis sp., the senecios Senecio niveoaureus and peatlands in the swamp zones.
