The main environmental service of El Cocuy NNP is its capacity to regulate water for the Playitas, Lagunillas, Cóncavo and Cardenillo streams, which form the Nevado river that flows into the Chicamocha river. These streams supply water to more tan 11,000 people. Other environmental services include climatic regulation, carbon sequestration and conservation of biodiversity.
