Conservation Objectives Sierra Nevada
1. Conserve mountain, paramo, and forest biomes represented in the park as strategic zones for regulating water flows and protecting the headwaters of the massif, especially as the two latter biomes are the areas of greatest endemism in the Sierra. 2. Conserve and facilitate natural recovery of the area represented in the park by equatorial rainforest and sub-Andean forest as they protect the greatest number of endangered species in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
3. Conserve Ezwamas and other sacred sites to the four Indian tribes in the park as the natural and cultural heritageof these communities.
